Safety and awareness campaign

With a view to reducing the incidence of injuries and illnesses among Nepalese workers working in the various different industries in Qatar, the NRNA-NCC Qatar started the Safety and awareness campaign as an important action to spread information among our Nepalese counterparts.

The NRNA-NCC Qatar members have worked diligently in numerous camps and work places in Qatar to carry out its program of promoting the implementation of safety and awareness standards to ensure the well beings of Nepalese working here leaving their family back home.

Through this program, the NRNA-NCC Qatar encourages the target groups to participate in awareness campaigns to strengthen their knowledge and information regarding risks and safety measures in working place and maintaining healthier environment around their living area.

During visits to different labor camps and settlements in Industrial Area (Just Pumpleting)  & Al-khor (Campaign) ,   following actions are taken in past two (2) months by NRNA-NCC Qatar under supervision of Mukhtar Alam:- (total attendees was approx. 35-30 persons at Alkor)

 I. Awareness about Hazards:

a. Fire and explosion hazards;

b. Health hazards; and

c. Other hazards specific to the different work operation.

II. Awareness about Sanitation :

a. Discussed about how washing hands properly after returning from work with Soap or hand wash solutions will reduce the chances of falling ill.

b. Healthy use of bathing regularly.

c. Demonstrate the reason for proper washing of working clothes as it may be get infected by chemicals and industrial dust which causes illness.

d. And discussed other health issues which may be causes due to carelessness in sanitation.

III. Information about the ways to protect yourself at home in your Residence Hall.

IV. Information about ways to protect yourself when walking on road.

V. Illustrated by using audio-visual demo about various traffic rules of Qatar.

VI. Information about safety measures needed to taken during fire in work place or living area.

This is some of the efforts done so far in this small time of 2 months.  There are more to come and need to do a lot in this field, with everyone support.
